Creating Cyanotype

Cyanotypes is a photographic printing process that produce a blue image. It’s made by exposing a chemically treated surface to sunlight and washing it with water. The process of making a cyanotype is easy to do at home and super fun! Using Jacquard Cyanotype Set, watercolor paper, a sheet of glass of an empty picture frame, and transparency paper I began my cyanotype adventure! I first started with writing “Grow through what you go through” quote in Sharpie on transparency paper. I mixed the Jacquard Cyanotype Set bottle A and B together and paint brushed it on watercolor paper and let it dry in a dark room until it dried. I then grabbed my watercolor paper, my transparency paper with the quote on it, and the glass of an empty picture frame and took it outside to expose them to direct sunlight. I waited for about 10-15 minutes before washing it in cold water and letting it hang dry outside on my balcony. Once it was dry, my cyanotype masterpiece was complete! I scanned it to my laptop and it came out perfectly! My overall process of this project was really fun, however a bit disappointed that the lettering of some of the words look smudge. I picked this specific quote because I’ve been seeing it all over my instagram feed of my planner community and it’s a perfect quote for what is happening right now with the craziness of the world. I know that many of us are going through a lot right now and we can use this moment to grow, to find the strength thats in all of us.
