Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.
— Allen Ginsberg.
Hello world. My name is Rosa and I am a Liberal Studies Major with a Minor in Visual Arts. I’ve always been interested in visual art because of the expression of creativity and passion that is put into it. I enrolled in AMD 317 because I want to expand my horizon in learning more about digital media and artist that use digital media to express their creativity. This semester I hope to accomplish learning more about photography and how to capture the essence of creativity through it. My self-portrait is in my “natural habitat” sitting on my chair working on my desk. Fun fact about myself is that I love to plan. My favorite planner brand is called Happy Planner and helps me keep track of my everyday life.
“The timeless in you is aware of life’s timelessness; and knows that yesterday is but today’s memory and tomorrow is today’s dream.”
– Khalil Gibran
For each of these photos I decided to edit them in black and white inspired by the video Wrinkles of the City: Los Angeles. For each of the photos a white wall was used for the perfect background. I also decided to present each picture by oldest to youngest.
This is my mom Cirila, she is one of my favorite human beings on this earth. She wanted to take the picture in a simple background with her posing since it fits her personality. I took this photo on Monday evening in our apartment. She was posing in front of our white wall in our living room that was a perfect background for her.
This is my friend Karla; however, she is more like a sister to me. We both weren’t sure how to take the picture and therefore, she just began to pose. During this picture her son was next to her copying her on how she was posing. This photo reflects her personality of always having a big smile on her face, even when life knocks her down she stays strong. I took this photo on Tuesday evening in her apartment, posing in front of a white wall in her living room.
This is my friend Esmeralda, Esme for short, and she is more like a sister to me. We both weren’t sure how to take the picture and therefore, she just began to pose, and this perfect picture came out. This picture represents her personality perfectly because once she opens up to someone she loves and cares for them deeply, plus she has a beautiful smile that is contagious. I took this photo on Tuesday evening in Karla’s apartment. She was sitting down in front of a white wall in Karla’s living room.
This is my baby brother Angel, a middle schooler and the sweetest kid I know. He didn’t really want to take a photo, however, promising him five dollars made him smile for the camera. This photo represents his unconditional love for his older sister (me) because he is willing to pose for a picture he doesn’t care about. In his words “I just want to make you (me) happy and I want five dollars”. I took this photo on Monday evening in our apartment. He posed in front of out white wall in our living room.
This little one is Logan, also known as my “nephew” and Karla’s son. This picture is an accurate representation on how he looks up to his mom. His mom was next to him posing for her picture and stayed posing so I could take his picture just like his mom. I took this photo on Tuesday evening in his apartment. He was posing in front of a white wall in his living room next to his mom.
In today’s class assignment my class and I took pictures of one another. I picked this photo in particular because it was one of the first photos I have ever taken of someone else. This is my classmate Silver and he is a car enthusiast.
